21 December 2009 – Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
Well it’s the shortest day of the year, so officially from tomorrow the days are getting longer and it’ll all be brighter! Even if we are going through a cold snap and it’s frrrreezing…
This statue of Jesus near where I live may well be covered in snow again this week – this pic was taken earlier this year…
I’ve had a brilliant year, and no wonder when it got off to such a great start with the fabulously glamorous launch of the Rugby series of Harlequin Mills and Boon books in Twickenham Stadium in London.
It was lovely to see the other authors – Sarah Morgan, Susan Stephens, Carole Mortimer, and the lovely India Grey who I got to wander around London with afterwards.
… we were looking for Sylvia Plath’s house…which we found and oohed and aahed over.
Then in the summer I visited Venice for the first time, and all I can say is, wow…it really does live up to all the cliches heaped at its feet…
In September I got to meet all the authors again in London for the annual Mills and Boon authors lunch and I’m already looking forward to next year – once a year isn’t enough time to cram in all that catching up…but I did get a couple of sneaky Irish visits from Kate Walker and her lovely husband through the year so that kept me going…
I’ve written four books this year which is some feat of mental engineering (for me!), so I’m looking forward to a break and starting fresh in the new year – after a New Year’s trip to New York which I’m hoping will be a veritable mine of inspiration…watch out for a story set in New York sometime in 2011!
I’d like to say thank you to everyone who has contacted me throughout the year – your emails are so valuable and it’s such a treat to hear from readers…so I wish you all a very happy and book-ful christmas!
And to add to that – I wish you all a very, very Merry Christmas, and all the best wishes for a happy, prosperous and peaceful 2010…
See you all then and in the meantime be safe and well,
x Abby
